looking back a little

Before dyeing with sage (previous post, but posted today as well), I had a little simple fun playing with the silks I have dyed. I chose the most interesting colors, and juxtaposed them in a sort of rainbow way. I think I could get lost in them. I am so very happy & satisfied I started dyeing with plants, with the help of my husband (because, yes, we're dyeing with four hands, and two minds), and with the motivations from friends & fellow dyers. Each dye is a new adventure, and I'm trying to make the most of each season and of what Nature provides us locally.

I love how it forms a lovely autumnal color palette. All these golden & profound hues really makes me happy !

  1. Sonia, this should be in a coffee table book. Just gorgeous. Wouldn't that be fun? A book of all natural dyes, not an instruction book so much as just a feast for the eyes....I would buy it.

  2. I am seriously jealous, they are so beautiful! I have also been inspired and recently purchased a book on natural dyeing so I could learn more and hopefully someday get some amazing results like you have. Thanks for the inspiration!

  3. I've just showed Daniel these pictures because recently I keep telling him about them. I've been inspired by your dying and I hope to try solar dying very soon. Blackberries, Sloe berries and rosehips are growing near out home.
